Bluefish Connecticut Connecticut Fishing Fishing Report Long Island Sound Striped Bass Western Long Island Sound

The Striped Bass are still biting this week and should stick around for a while with the amount of bunker here. Overall we can say this has been a great year for bait! It's abundant and easily accessible to hungry fish.

Summer Blues are trickling in but not in significant numbers. Yet. From harbors, beaches and all the way out to mid sound schools of adult Menhaden have flooded the area. Unfortunately many schools are without Bass and Bluefish, but we are only coming across a a handful of schools being harassed. From dusk to dawn, overnight and low-light conditions are your best shots at finding Bass on bait them now that the Summer heat is in full swing.

Porgy fishing is your best bet for getting food on the table. Scup and Black Sea Bass are concentrated on most rock piles in the area however we are seeing lots of juvenile Sea Bass causing a nuisance!  We look forward to catching them up in a year or two. Fluke are scattered with a few keepers mixed in your typical summer spots.
