August 2, 2017 Offshore Team Trip

Early morning in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Deep fog blanketed the surrounding area accompanied by heat, humidity and overcast weather. The team assembled for a 5am departure in search of Tuna. Our fingers were crossed the weekend's Nor'easter blow didn't push the tuna bite farther offshore.  The course was set for "Tuna Ridge". Pro Staffers Daphne Forster and Diane Womack got to work on the spread a few miles from the Block Island Wind Farm. We chose to troll 2 squid bars, 1 green machine, two daisy chains and two rigged Ballyhoo. The seas were bursting with life! We were surrounded...

July 27, 2017 Fishing Report

Monday's Cold front left much to be desired on Long Island Sound. Keeper Fluke are very scarce at this time. Scup season is definitely upon is with large groups schooling in shallow water 20ft and below. Rocks, Shallow water and Skimmer clams are working best. We suggest Hi Los to maximize your catch potential. We are seeing several Black Sea Bass in this mix but deeper water is where you’ll do best. The Striper bite has moved East but a seemingly endless influx of bait from adult menhaden to peanut bunker continue their steady migration into our waters. Bluefish are certainly...

July 13, 2017 Fishing Report

The Striped Bass are still biting this week and should stick around for a while with the amount of bunker here. Overall we can say this has been a great year for bait! It's abundant and easily accessible to hungry fish.   Summer Blues are trickling in but not in significant numbers. Yet. From harbors, beaches and all the way out to mid sound schools of adult Menhaden have flooded the area. Unfortunately many schools are without Bass and Bluefish, but we are only coming across a a handful of schools being harassed. From dusk to dawn, overnight and low-light conditions are your best shots...

June 28, 2017 Fishing Report

Striped Bass fishing remains strong for now but we expect activity to wind down in the next 2 to 3 weeks. As we approach the July full moon look for Striper activity in deeper, cooler waters at dawn and dusk. As always with summertime Striper fishing we urge all anglers to take extra care reviving large fish before release. Fluke and Black Sea Bass remain steady but not particularly hot and heavy. We are seeing lots of fish 20-22" in size, no jumbos to speak of yet. Scup sightings are popping up left and right. We have yet to...

June 15, 2017 Fishing Report

Warm temperatures have brought the Flounder out of hiding. We are seeing nice fish of both the Connecticut and New York side of Long Island Sound. Although Sand Eels remain the meal of choice for these flatties, more and more fish are showing up with bellies full of juvenile Scup between 3-4” in length. A white Spro tipped with Sand Eel is our suggestion for success this weekend. Striped Bass continue their migration East. Solid reports are coming in daily pointing to the night bite as the best time to find big breeder fish. Not much has changed as far...
